Many early members of the Northern Counties Transport Society had previously been members of the Buckley Wells Transport Enthusiasts (originally known as Buckley Wells Railway Enthusiasts). As mentioned on the History page, its demise came about following an over ambitious epic South of England excursion in the Summer of 1969.  Northern Counties Transport Society emerging from the ashes.  Participants on that excursion are pictured below outside Chart Leacon Depot.  Are you in the picture?
